Ocean Quest VR

Explore, understand and protect our ocean.

Ocean Quest is an interactive immersive-learning environment that turns marine sustainability into something learners can experience, investigate and discuss.

01

What learners experience

Learners enter a virtual marine environment and take an active role rather than watching from the outside.

  • Explore a coral-reef environment
  • Interact with and rescue marine life
  • Investigate plastic pollution and coral damage
  • Learn about microplastics
  • Participate in environmental clean-up activities
  • Reflect on the consequences of human choices
02

Designed for facilitated learning

A headset alone is not the lesson. Sessions are planned around the learner group, supported by an educator or facilitator, and connected to discussion, reflection and evaluation.

03

Technology and delivery

Ocean Quest is developed for Meta Quest standalone VR hardware. Delivery format, equipment numbers and facilitation are agreed for each school, institution or programme.

04

Comfort and accessibility

Comfort settings, pacing and interaction options can be considered around the learner group. Schools and SEND settings are invited to discuss individual needs, supervision and safeguarding before delivery.

05

Learning objectives

The experience supports discussion around ocean ecosystems, pollution, sustainability, human impact and environmental responsibility. Exact objectives are agreed for each delivery context.

06

Planning and evaluation

Before delivery, we agree the audience, intended outcomes, space, timetable, staff roles and accessibility considerations. Evaluation can include proportionate pre- and post-session questions, learner reflection and educator feedback.

07

Who it can support

Ocean Quest can be planned for primary and secondary schools, SEND settings, colleges, universities, community programmes and organisational sustainability engagement. The language, pace and learning activity are adapted to the context.

Frequently asked questions

Planning an Ocean Quest session

What equipment is required?

Ocean Quest runs on Meta Quest standalone VR headsets. Equipment numbers, hygiene arrangements, available space and any supporting display or classroom resources are agreed when the session is planned.

How long is an Ocean Quest session?

Session length depends on the age group, learning objectives, rotation format and accessibility needs. We recommend a format after discussing the timetable and intended outcomes with the school or organisation.

Can Ocean Quest support SEND learners?

Yes, where the experience is appropriate for the individual learner. Planning can consider sensory preferences, communication needs, physical access, pacing, breaks and ways to participate without wearing a headset.

Does every participant use a headset at the same time?

Not necessarily. Delivery can use rotations, small groups, shared observation and supporting learning activities. The format depends on group size, equipment and the aims of the session.

What subjects and themes can it support?

Ocean Quest can support marine ecosystems, plastic pollution, microplastics, coral damage, sustainability, human impact, environmental responsibility, ocean literacy and related STEM learning.

How much does delivery cost?

Cost depends on location, group size, equipment, duration, facilitation and evaluation requirements. Contact Neptune's Submerge for a proposal based on your setting and objectives.
